Lessons From My Dad
The following is from writings of Thomas Arthur Bowers, 1948-1988, s/o Norman Walter Bowers and Mary Rita Burleson.
I learned a lot from my Dad, sometimes I learned from what he told me. And sometimes I learned from the things he did.
I
learned to value people, not for how they look or where they come from,
but for their character. What is important is whether someone is
honest, and tells the truth.
I learned to work hard for the money I am paid. That's the honest thing to do.
I learned to help people when I can.
Some of the most important lessons were the things my Dad didn't teach me.
I
never learned to lie, or cheat, or steal. I don't remember his saying
not to do those things, but I knew not to do them, because he didn't.
I learned to never give up and to always do my best.
This is what my Dad taught me.
